A Twist on a Texas Favorite

This weekend we will be unveiling our collaboration beer, brewed with the Lorelei Brewing crew. Our Beer Baron brewed the “Texas Twist” a Belgian Witbier. Originating in Belgium, this unfiltered style of ale is pale and cloudy in appearance typically due to the high level of wheat, and sometimes oats, used in the mash. Always spiced, generally with coriander, orange peel, and occasionally other spices or herbs in the background. This is where the Texas, twist comes into play. We spiced our brew with grapefruit peel instead of orange. Using locally sourced grapefruits, as citrus does so well in these parts, as well as locally sourced (from the Mathew’s garden aka same zip code local) lemongrass.

It took four hands (eight hands?) on deck to process the lemongrass. Once it was all manageable the lemongrass and the grapefruit peels were put into a muslin bag and added to the boil like flavoring tea. Then the REALLY hard part came… we had to wait and watch. No need to bore you with the paperwork details, lucky for you, you get to taste the results on Saturday March 7th. We will be releasing it at the 4th annual Corpus Christi Brewery Festival at the Art Center of Corpus Christi. VIP enter at 4pm for an hour of unlimited samples, no lines, and meeting the brewers. The main event will begin at 5pm until 9pm.

Fear not, our taproom will still be open for those looking to have a peaceful evening in our comfortable space and the Texas Twist will also be on tap. So whether you join us on the South Side or join us Downtown make sure to surround yourself with friends and cheers to the good times.
