Beers Released in 2016

  1. January 2nd: New Page Porter – Ring in the new year with the new page porter. This is a dark porter with an upfront roast bitterness which finishes with a smooth very slight vanilla spiced profile.
  2. January 6th: Belgian IPA – This recipe was designed by home brewer Russell Wagner. It twists and blends two common beer styles, an American IPA and a Belgian Wit. 60 IBUs acquired by both American and German hops. Fermented with a Belgian yeast strain along with additions of orange peel and coriander. Finished by a generous dry hopping of Soriachi Ace and Citra hops.
  3. January 13th: Diwali – This was a collaboration brew with the local chefs association. They wanted to create a beer that would show off their culinary expertise and they delivered! This is an Indian curry sort of beer with tumeric, coriander, cardamon, fenugreek, fennel, ginger and cayenne pepper.
  4. January 20th: Shipwreck Porter – This was a collaboration brew with home brewers Andrew McNeil, Brice Thomas and Stuart Morris. To make this porter even more unique we added rum soaked oak chips to give it a barrel aged flavor.
  5. January 29th: Grapefruit Pale – This simple pale beer is made with pilgrim and galena hops which both can have grapefruit qualities as well as fresh grapefruit peel. While we didn’t achieve as much grapefruit flavor as we were hoping for, it is still a tasty beer with a refreshing hint of grapefruit.
  6. February 5th: Islander Beach – We took the Beach in wHeat and added blueberries during the brewing process. And when it is served, it will have more blueberries! This beer is in honor of the Islander Homecoming this weekend.
  7. February 10th: Lovers in the Surf On the first sip this golden colored beauty starts off with a slight hop bitterness that quickly fades into an incredibly rich and creamy light beer. Just when you think that is all, it ends with a semi sweet light chocolate finish that lingers until your next sip.
  8. February 10th: Corpus Christi v5 – After tallying up all the votes Corpus voted for the beer to go darker and more malty. We adjusted the malts accordingly and out came the new version.
  9. February 18th: Ooh Rah – Home brewer and Marine Wes Earhart challenged himself as well as us to create a Rye Amber Hefeweizen to match the marine battle cray ooh rah. Our creation is similar to a Roggenbier but instead of using mostly barley and rye which is common in a Roggenbier we replaced most of the barley with wheat to bring it closer to a hefeweizen.
  10. February 18th: Raptor Eye – Surftoberfest home brew winner, Sean Sutherland, collaborated with us to make this American style IPA.
  11. February 24th: Belgian Abbey – This Belgian style abbey is dark copper in color, extremely smooth and packed full of Belgian aroma and flavor that really start to shine as it warms up.
  12. March 3rd: Sun-burnt Blonde – We took our Blonde and added Cayenne and Chipotle peppers for a spicy and tasty twist.
  13. March 3rd: Kombucha – Kombucha is back again after a few months of hiatus.
  14. March 10th: Irish Stout – Its black, creamy, and full of delicious roast flavor with an amazing chocolate flavor on the finish. (This later became the 1799 Stout)
  15. March 17th: Hermits Lair – We released this beer on our taprooms grand opening back in June and decided it was time to make it again. We decided to make a couple changes and this porter came out even better than last time. Roasted Barley, Dark Chocolate, Subtle Coffee, Molasses, are just a few of the flavors in this malty delicious porter. 30 IBU, 4.9% ABV
  16. March 17th: English Bitter – Also known as an English Pale Ale, this beer is copper in color with an excellent lite bready malt flavor followed by a classic English earthy hop flavor. Very similar to a popular English pale ale with a slightly sweeter malt flavor. 30% IBU, 4.8 ABV
  17. March 24th: Corpus Christi v6 – After reading all the comment cards from version 5 it appears the majority of you want the Corpus Christi beer to be thicker and sweeter but not darker (with our favorite card saying it needs to be sweeter because corpus people are sweet). We also received some requests for specific hop changes, so we changed the dry hopping to from Centennial to Citra hops. We have a small amount of version 5 left and will have both versions on until it runs out. Make sure to make your vote count on this new version!
  18. April 8th: Pineapple Beach in Wheat – We took our Beach in Wheat and added Pineapple for a tasty twist on this amazing summer beer.
  19. April 8th: Classic Pale Ale – We love to try brewing all sorts of new beers, but sometimes its nice to brew a simple pale ale. This one is true to the original style. Made with all American “C” hops, delicious without being overly bitter.
  20. April 15th: Golden Royal Bengal – This malty golden ale has a very earthy taste with mango flavors. We brewed this with Musanna Al-Muntasir. The name comes from the golden color of mangos which is an abundant royal fruit of the bengal, where he is from. Congrats to Jeff Rose for correctly guessing the amount of mango added at 22.5lbs. We have your growler waiting for you.
  21. April 15th: Dunkelweisen – Another version of the classic dunkelweisen. This time a little more roasted, slightly smokey flavors. Thanks to Javier for brewing this with us.
  22. April 22nd: Summer Stout – This stout has all the delicious stout flavors without the thick overpowering body and mouth-feel, making it a great stout for the warmer weekend.
  23. April 28: Bayside Belgian – This golden colored beauty has all the amazing aroma found in a Belgian style ale with a bitter upfront flavor quickly followed by a sweet yet smooth maltiness without a lingering hop flavor. 50 IBU, 6 SRM, 5.7% ABV
  24. May 4th: Poblano Wit – Very light and smooth this Belgian style Wit has poblano as the main feature instead of the classic orange and coriander. How fitting for the week of Cinco De Mayo. 12 IBU 3 SRM
  25. May 4th: Corpus Christi v7 – Another round of changes to the beer of Corpus Christi. You all must have been voting for the rapidly approaching summer heat. The most popular changes were to thin it and reduce the sweetness and to reduce the hops bringing it back closer to an American Brown in style.
  26. May 12th: Pier Pressure Pecan – We took our last version of the Pecan and made it more summer appropriate. Lots of pecan flavor in a porter style without the thick and overpowering mouth feel. A great porter for the hot weather from here on out.
  27. May 19th: Beach in Wheat with Orange – The beach in wheat goes so well with different fruits. In the past we have tried blueberries and also pineapple, both of which were great. This time it is time to give the orange a chance. What a success! It gives a great tasting orange sweetness to an already very enjoyable beer.
  28. May 23rd: C-Water – Radio Station C101 On Air Personalities Rex Gabriel and Gino Montalvo, Monte Montana and Hitman joined us to brew this English Brown Ale. It has a light brown almost copper color and a sweet caramel, slightly chocolate malt forward flavor that is balanced by just the right amount of hop bitterness. 5.25% ABV
  29. May 23rd: Jackrabbit Double IPA – When asked what beer Steven ‘bob’ Moreno what he wanted to brew with us, his response was another question. “Where do you buy your hops from?” Wondering why, he responded “Because I am going to buy everything they have and throw them all in!” This double IPA is around 90 IBUs with a huge dry hop addition of Simcoe and Centennial hops to give it an amazingly great aroma. 7.5% ABV (This was the first version of what would eventually become cHoppy Waters)
  30. May 31st: Simcoe Pale – 1 of 4 released for our 2 year anniversary.
  31. May 31st: ? – 2 of 4 released for our 2 year anniversary.
  32. May 31st: ? – 3 of 4 released for our 2 year anniversary.
  33. May 31st: ? – 4 of 4 released for our 2 year anniversary.
  34. June 9th: Cameron Classic This Saison is perfect for a hot day. The slight belgian aroma is followed by a light, balanced bitterness with a crisp finish. 24 IBU, 3 SRM, 5.5% ABV
  35. June 17th: Kook – It’s back! This is perhaps the perfect summer beer. Huge cucumber aroma with a light, crisp, satisfying taste. Doug Funk and Jimmy loved this beer so much last year, that they came and brewed this years batch with us. 20IBU, 4SRM, 5.8%ABV
  36. June 17th: Corpus Christi v8 – Another rendition on the ever evolving Corpus Christi. After reading all your comments it appears you wanted it to go back closer to version 6 and 7. This batch came out slightly more bitter and slightly darker than version 7. 22 IBU, 24 SRM, 4.7% ABV
  37. June 17th: Beach in Wheat with Mangoes and Tangerines – We have mixed a few different fruits with the Beach in Wheat in the past and they have all came out great. This time it came out great again by adding Mangoes and Tangerines.
  38. June 23rd: Dark Side of the Dune – This beer seems to have mistaken this summer heat for the cold of winter with its amazingly thick mouth feel. Wrong solstice buddy. Upfront hop bitterness quickly gives way to a mouthful of deliciously aggressive stout flavors followed by a slight alcohol warmth. 7.5% ABV, 90 IBU, 50 SRM.
  39. July 1st: Whatamelon Blonde: It’s like.. watermelon on a hot day. Need we say more? 20IBU SRM:Red 4.2%ABV
  40. July 1st: Tropical Disturbance – This light Belgian has a blend of tropical fruits giving it a great fruity belgian aroma followed by a semi-sweet fruit finish. 15IBU 4SRM 4%ABV
  41. July 1st: Summer Stout – Back again and by far the best version of this ale yet. Heavy on the chocolate and coffee aroma without being thick and undrinkable in the heat. A stout made for summer heat. 30IBU, 50SRM 5.6%ABV
  42. July 22nd: Summer Scorcher – Cayenne, Mango and Pineapple make this tart wheat beer slightly sweet up front with a spicy cayenne finish.
  43. July 22nd: Golden Cafe au Lait Stout – Golden in color this creamy milk blonde is delicious on its own. But to make it even more fun we added rum soaked coffee beans and cacao nibs giving it an amazing coffee aroma followed by a smooth creamy chocolate flavor.
  44. July 22nd: Tide Pool
  45. July 29th: Corpus Christi v9 – More intense malt flavor, slightly darker color and a more full body makes version 9 of Corpus Christi’s beer head slightly further into the porter category.
  46. August 12th: Sunshine Pale – This pale ale is the perfect way to stay cool through this weekends high of 96f. Citra hops are complemented by orange peel for a refreshingly light american pale ale. 4.7% ABV, 35 IBU, 6 SRM.
  47. August 18th: C-Water – Back for round two is the C-water. Originally made with the team at C101 Rocks!! and named during our recent unnecessary water boil fiasco this brown ale starts off with a lot of malt sweetness followed by just enough hops to remind you that some were added, then quickly back to a deliciously smooth finish. 5.2% ABV, 25 IBU, 14 SRM
  48. August 18th: Oil Slick – As black as oil but not as thick. This stout starts out with a coffee and chocolate aroma sliding into a world of toasted oats and chocolate and finishing up with a dry roasty finish. Tasting this at 10am is leading to confusion, is this not a perfect breakfast drink? 4.6% ABV, 25 IBU, 50 SRM.
  49. November 17th, 2016 Butter Beer for the Harry Potter night
  50. November 17th, 2016 Corpus Christi Version 10
  51. November 22nd, Double Texas Bock: We wondered what the Texas Bock would taste like if we doubled all the ingredients, so we gave it a try.
  52. November 30th, 2016 Reindeer Droppings
